A jammed pack weekend of fun was what we were all up to over the last few days. Now....we are all very full of yummy turkey and all the trimmings, full of the tasty egg nog lattes courtesy of Kylie, and tired from all of the fresh and frosty air and being outside almost all weekend. We started the weekend off with a very chilly (-7 degree) early morning hike around Fish Creek Park. Auntie Kylie taught Aidan how to feed the chickadees and Aidan tried so hard to get one to land on his hand but I think he just can't stand still long enough! Next up was the cooking of the turkey dinner. We spent the majority of Sunday afternoon enjoying a baked Camembert cheese and crackers while preparing all of the dishes for our dinner. The house smelled soooo good! I am always amazed though, that it takes literally all afternoon to cook a dinner like this and only 20 minutes to eat it! Oh well! After dinner we all snuggled up in front of the fire and watched Shrek, and I think everyone managed to stay awake! Today we all spent the day in Kananaskis having a picnic and then hiking up Ribbon Creek. The weather was cool, with a fresh dusting of snow lining the trail. After our hike, we headed over to the Kananaskis Village to warm up indoors with a few tasty hot chocolates and cookies. To round out our day we had a fantastic drive home through the Highwood Pass (lots of snow here!) and Alberta foothills. Phew! What a weekend! I think it will take a quiet week in order for all of us to regroup.
