We had a fairly busy day today...I mean after all it is the day before Halloween! With Aidan battling a stubborn cold, we hung out inside for the day and took advantage of a little r & r to gear up for some Trick-Or-Treating tomorrow night. On the agenda for the day was pumpkin carving...



...and an afternoon movie. Now, what movie wouldn't be complete without popcorn? So....I decided to make some!! Not the throw-it-in-the-microwave kinda stuff. But the real thing! Done stove top style in a frying pan! Talk about bust-a-gut-giggles! The kids had a blast! No pun intended!

Wait for it....any moment now...


Success!


Probably the funniest part was when we took the popcorn off the heat and as Aidan and Maelle were just taste testing, the popcorn kept on poppin'! The looks on their faces were priceless! Aidan couldn't believe that such a small kernel could turn into something so completely different....and not to mention yummy! That popcorn was delicious!

just because...

Ok...I know it's fall, and practically winter some days out here, but when I was cleaning out Bree and Jenna's closet (oh that's a big project let me tell ya!) I came across these CUTE summer dresses that fit them now. So....I decided to have a little fun and have a mini photo shoot with my two little ladies!

I should also mention that I could do an entire post with outake pictures as both Bree and Jenna had a little more fun lifting their dresses up and over their heads. Man do they feed off one another! Such ladies!

curiosity...

As Bree and Jenna grow up (and they are almost 8 months old already!) I have noticed that they are becoming more and more curious as they become more and more mobile. I can only imagine as their mobility increases just how curious they are going to become!

Too much curiosity I guess!

it happened...

She's on the move! I knew this day would come, I was just not prepared for it this early! I leave the room for 3 minutes (yes, 3 minutes) and Miss Bree has discovered that life does exist beyond the confines of her play carpet.


Thank goodness she only knows how to go backwards...for the moment! But...she's fast, oh so fast!

fancy-dancy

Today was Aidan's friend Maddie's 5th birthday party. Maddie is in kindergarten with Aidan and, well, kinda has taken a liking to our little Aidan. And so as a result, Aidan was invited to her party...a Fancy Nancy Party at that...in which all of the guests had to wear "fancy-dancy attire". And here is what we came up with....a dashing young gent sporting his new dapper ensemble!

(Oh, incase you're wondering about his socks...they are um...Christmas ones. Lately Aidan is having a little fun with us. He gets dressed all by himself and he actually has really good taste, however, he claims he likes to "mix it up a little bit" by wearing odd socks. You all remember my post from the summer where he was sporting his St Paddy's Day socks right?)

Anyways, the party was a huge success and all the kids got to eat parfaits and play classic games like musical chairs, of which Aidan was a proud winner of one round. Thrilled he was!

oh snowy day!

I love the snow. Yes...I know. Many of you are saying that I am crazy. It's ok. I know.
I especially love that very first snowfall of the season, and that's what happened the other day. We had about 6" of that glorious white stuff! Judging by the pics below, I think Aidan and Maelle were just as excited as I was.
Although....that being said. My Halloween decorations are looking a tad funny at the moment. I am wishing I could put up my snowmen instead!

Here's to what I am hoping will be a fantastic winter season! That is...after Halloween maybe.

too fast...

My youngest ladies, believe it or not, are already 7 months old! How did this happen? Bree is already trying her hardest to crawl. So far she has managed to commando crawl backwards on her belly, and now she can shuffle while sitting in all directions. I am so not ready for this. She knows that there is much more to see and do if she can move freely at her own will. She is too smart. Jenna, thankfully, is just as happy watching Bree. But....I know....she is learning. Learning the techniques demonstrated by her younger sibling and soon they will both be moving. In opposite directions!

Aidan's Trip

Wow! I have just finished taking a peak at all of the pics from Aidan's trip to Ontario, and I can't believe how much ground he covered in such a short time! To name just a few places: Port Dover, Butterfly Conservatory, Niagara Falls, Rainforest Cafe, CN Tower, Union Station, Toronto Railway Heritage Centre,Welland Canal, glow in the dark mini-putt...he got to visit so many exciting places and do so many cool things! A lucky fella indeed! I think though that his most favourite memory was sitting in Captain Dave's seat after his flight to Hamilton. Here are a few pics from the days that were spent in Toronto and Niagara Falls.

A great day with Auntie Heather at Niagara Falls. They all geared up for a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist. A fantastic opportunity to get up close and see the base of the falls.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make Aidan (and Brent's) trip so memorable. The time you took out of your busy days to spend time with both of the boys meant a lot, especially to Aidan. When he arrived home, he would not go to bed until he told me about everything that he had done, and all of the places that he got to go. This was one excited (and very tired!) little boy. A special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Werkman for looking after Aidan while Brent was at his conference, and to Auntie Heather for spending a few days with the guys and taking them to some amazing places. You guys are awesome! Thanks to Grandma and Brent for helping Aidan with his school project while he was away. The scrapbook was a HUGE hit with the kids in Aidan's class and his teachers.

Although it was a very tiring week, we managed to survive and we were all very happy to have the "men of the house" home safe and sound. It sounds as though Aidan had an amazing time in Ontario, and I'll have a post soon about all of his adventures!
