Island Fever!

Hey Everyone!

Well we're off. We are heading to Vancouver Island for the remainder of the summer and we will be back at the beginning of September. Everyone is pretty excited about the trip and we can't wait to soak our feet in the ocean, explore those tidal pools, enjoy some crackling campfires, and above all else...spend time as a family enjoying all the amazing fun the island has to offer. We have lots planned for our trip and no doubt once we are back I will have a lot of new pics and many, many stories to share. So...here's to a great "rest of summer" and we will catch up with everyone once we return!

gotta love hiking

What a great day for a hike! Kylie and I headed out early this morning for a fabulous hike up to Jumpingpound Summit in Kananaskis Country. The weather was perfect (a tad chilly at the top) but awesome nonetheless. We had a great lunch at the summit and we have decided that every weekend we should have our lunch at the top of a mountain. Reasonable? I think so!

They are finally here!! Yay!! Kylie and Lindsay arrived safe and sound Thursday evening and we were all so very happy to see them! Also, here's to a very Happy First Anniversary! It was one year ago today that Kylie and Lindsay tied the knot in the beautiful Canadian Rockies!

And what a better way to spend a day full of that summer heat than a water fight...just like back in the old days.

So as you can see, it was a very wet and refreshing afternoon involving a few very old water guns, some water balloons, and a tonne of good laughs. I think everyone got wet in one way or another...including myself, who nearly fell into the swimming pool thanks to Brent's carefully planned toss of a water balloon. The water balloons went over quite well with both kids, and of course the adults. Tomorrow is supposed to be another hot one, so the plans and schemes are underway for yet another water fight!

Maelle didn't do too bad with her cup. A lot of the smoothie did actually get consumed, but some did make the journey down her chin and into her bib. And Aidan...well I think he is just naturally messy with these drinks!

Not only is Aidan addicted to the trains, but so is Maelle. There isn't a day that goes by where these trains are not played with. I love seeing the imaginations of both kids come through when

they are playing with their trains.
I am always amazed as to how focused they are!

I was on my way to the front garden, watering can in hand, and low and behold what was sticking out of my mailbox? The 2009 IKEA catalogue!

I wait for this moment every year! Ok....some of you may be wondering what the big deal is, but for those of you who know me really, really well, you'll know that IKEA is one of my favourite stores. I love going to IKEA and poking around. The storage ideas are awesome, and you never know what you'll find in the as-is section! Goodies galore! Now, if you'll excuse me, the kids are napping and I have a date with my tea and cookies, and my new catalogue!
