what to my wondering eyes should appear...

Now would you look at that!  A total score today over at Spruce Meadows...and outdoor curling rink!  What?  Yep.  A little something new this year and very much a huge hit with the kids - one in particular!  They even have their own rocks, and it's lit up at night with spot lights and Christmas lights.  Well...I think we will be spending a great deal of time over here.  How cool is this?

That's not to say that our curling rink won't see just as much action...tonight was the first round of curling to kick off the Snider rink season.  We have been having a Chinook, so the skating portion will need to wait a little longer.  Exciting times friends!  Exciting times!

The Elf

Yes....it's that time of year.  The time for "Elf" antics.  Christopher-Pop-In-Kins has been a regular around these parts for the last number of years.  He makes an appearance a few weeks before Christmas to, well...."keep an eye on things".  However, this little red and green clad dude, is in trouble more often than the kids, everyday getting himself into a little mischief of his own.  Whether it's roasting mini marshmallows over a tealight, hanging upside down from the chandelier, or causing a few problems with the Hogwart's Lego crew, he means well.
All the while, he gives my crew (and myself) a little giggle!

His main role is to report to the big guy himself.  The power this little guy possesses on my family is really quite something, and if Christopher issues an "Elf Report" on bad behaviour (ahem), well, things improve very quickly.  I wish I had a house elf all year!
So, with Christmas a mere two weeks away, and the realization of school's end on the horizon, rooms are being cleaned, basements tidied, chores are being done....all unprompted.  See?  I told you this dude is powerful!

the magic of turning seven

Celebrating Maelle's seventh birthday this weekend has been an absolute blast!  We kicked off her birthday morning with birthday pancakes, gifts, her art class, a lunch out, and then the ultimate surprise....taking Maelle to see the movie Frozen.  Talk about one surprised little girl!  She was the one in line jumping up and down repeatedly saying "I can't believe we are going to see Frozen!"  And the movie did not disappoint....it was FANTASTIC!  There was nothing better than Maelle grabbing my arm throughout the entire movie exclaiming how much she loved it and grinning ear to ear.  Awesome!  Best.  Birthday.  Ever.

Birthday's are serious business in these parts, and Maelle has been counting down the days for months leading up to this day.  "Excited" does not describe Maelle on her big day.  "Magical"....now that may be a more accurate choice!  This gal just shines everywhere she goes.  She has such a creative and funky spirit and her energy is incredible.

Happy Birthday Maelle!
May you continue to shine in everything you do, and spread magical sparkle everywhere you go!  We love ya!
