saying goodbye

Oh, goodness.  This is a tough one.  As many of you already know, we said goodbye to Dakota last Wednesday morning.  Holy cow, did she ever have an amazing twelve plus years with our family!  So many amazing, fun, and happy memories and adventures, that we can't help but smile (as hard as that has been over the last few days) and even have a few giggles about all that she got to do.  She was a trooper right up until her last day with us.  She wasn't sick.  She was as healthy as one could hope for a dog her age, and it was just that.  Her age had finally caught up with her.
Even though the house feels quite a bit different, and we catch ourselves doing things everyday in what was our routine with Dakota, we are feeling so very lucky to have had such an amazing dog and an amazing friend in our lives.
Brent has once again worked his magic and put together a short video to honour Dakota.  Not sad. Not a tear jerker.  Just perfect.  Exactly how Dakota will be remembered by our family, and her extended family and friends.
Thank you Dakota.  You will forever be in our hearts and in our thoughts, and for that we are so very thankful. Love ya girl!
