kicking off Spring Break

It's here!  It's finally here!  Yes friends, Spring Break is finally upon us.  This is the last longer holiday that signifies that summer (yes, summer!) is getting ever closer.  It's also the longest and somewhat slowest stretch of the school year.  Never mind...all that aside now.
We ventured into the mountains today to take up a little snowshoeing.  Well, almost.  That was the intention.  You see, with no new snow in the last while, the snow was rather, how shall we say....sucky.  Oh, don't get me wrong, there was a lot of snow, just not the kind meant to be snowshoed on.  In other words....no white gold.  In what started out to be kind of a bust....no good snow....the grumps settling in amongst the group...enter complaining here, Brent stepped up and saved the day!  We embarked on a little hike...sans snowshoes....and took in the majestic peaks that surrounded us.  After that....let's just say it was all down hill!  In a good way!

Hello tobogganing!!!!!

There is nothing like sliding (full speed) down shelf ice and onto a frozen lake....in the sunshine....surrounded by magnificent views in all directions!  Goodbye grumps, and hello giggles and grins!

We wrapped up our trip with hot chocolates and cookies sitting by the fire at Big Horn's in Kananaskis Village.  Trip saved, happy kids, happy parents!
